The Springfield Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 54-43 to St. Helena College and Career Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Springfield of the 62-48 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Springfield's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dequane Davis, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Caden Dykes, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Springfield's defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 7-17. As for St. Helena College and Career Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-11.
Springfield will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Independence has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for St. Helena College and Career Academy, they and the Tigers will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Louisiana (East Feliciana is ranked 198th, while the Hawks are ranked 209th).
