They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 72-70 win over Charlotte Elite Academy on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Central Carolina Prep has posted yet this season.
Central Carolina Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colton Taylor, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Andre Pierre, who scored 16 points.
Charlotte Elite Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quincy Dunn, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dunn has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Taylor, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Central Carolina Prep's victory bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Charlotte Elite Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Carolina Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Raleigh HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Raleigh HomeSchool will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while Central Carolina Prep is ranked 195th). As for Charlotte Elite Academy, they will be playing at home against Comenius at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Comenius' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
