The Bowie Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by Riverside on the road and fell 75-19. Bowie has struggled against Riverside recently, as their game on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Leading Riverside to victory were Yazmin Rios and Sophiya Bustillos. Rios scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Bustillos scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists. That's the first time this season that Bustillos posted eight or more assists. Aj Alvarado was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Bowie bumped their record down to 3-11 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.3 points per game. As for Riverside, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
Coincidentally, Bowie and Riverside will both be playing Austin the next time they take the court. Riverside will head out to face Austin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Bowie will host them at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
