Basketball Recap: East Ridge Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jordan Corman and Joshua Joehill

East Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 66-62 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mount Dora Hurricanes. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 77-57 back in December of 2024.

Joshua Joehill and Jordan Corman certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Joehill went 14 for 30 on his way to 35 points, while Corman dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Those 35 points gave Joehill a new career-high.

Even though they lost, East Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Daqavious Taylor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mount Dora, going 7 of 17 en route to 22 points and six boards. Taylor's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jeremiah Brinson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

East Ridge's record is now 5-13. As for Mount Dora, their win ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-13.

East Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 82-59 loss against South Lake on the 17th. Mount Dora has also already played their next game, a 58-46 defeat against Tavares on the 17th.
