The Silverdale Academy Seahawks fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Signal Mountain Eagles on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 80-78. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (72), Silverdale Academy still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Silverdale Academy still got an impressive performance from Kennedy Okpara, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Okpara has scored all season. Brett Wright was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Silverdale Academy's loss dropped their record down to 24-3. As for Signal Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Silverdale Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Signal Mountain won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. The timing isn't great for Hixson: they have been struggling with nine straight losses at home, while the Eagles have snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
