Kodiak is 0-10 against Wasilla since May of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Bears will be taking part in a tournament against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
If Kodiak beats Wasilla with ten runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Bears blew past Monroe Catholic 10-1 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.
Meanwhile, Wasilla won against Monroe Catholic on Wednesday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Warriors walked away with a 14-10 win over Sitka.
Chase Sivulich made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sivulich was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other pitching news, Wasilla got a great performance from Robert Guzman as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over 4.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Guzman a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
Back at the plate, Wasilla let Kade Russell and Bridger Berta run wild. Russell went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Berta got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave Russell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Camden Mette, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Wasilla was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sitka only posted a batting average of .231.
Wasilla's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Kodiak, their win bumped their record up to 2-0-1.
Kodiak might still be hurting after the 15-3 loss they got from Wasilla in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
