Hancock is 8-2 against D'Iberville since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hancock Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the D'Iberville Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Hancock will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Hancock has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 35 points or more this season. They beat Pass Christian two weeks ago by the very same score they won with last week: 52-17. Given Hancock's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Pass Christian is ranked 183rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Even though D'Iberville has not done well against West Harrison recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way last Tuesday. D'Iberville strolled past West Harrison with points to spare, taking the game 51-36. The win made it back-to-back wins for D'Iberville.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead D'Iberville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Teeale Wells, who scored 18 points along with 3 steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Wells has scored at least 25% of D'Iberville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiyah Simpkins, who scored 16 points along with 8 steals.
Hancock's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for D'Iberville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Hancock against D'Iberville in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 49-20 win. Does Hancock have another victory up their sleeve, or will D'Iberville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
