It was a good run, but the Bronson Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 69-49 defeat at the hands of Concord. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Bronson of the 66-63 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Bronson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kamron Brackett, who scored 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Brackett is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Norton, who scored ten points along with three blocks.
Mekhi Wingfield continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Concord, scoring 29 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Wingfield has scored at least a third of Concord's points. Another player making a difference was Connor Stevens, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Bronson's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4. As for Concord, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Bronson will head out on the road to face off against Brandywine at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Bronson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for Concord, they will be playing at home against Sturgis at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Concord is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sturgis in Michigan (Concord is ranked 191st, while Sturgis is ranked 588th).
