The Laurel Golden Tornadoes will be playing at home against the Vancleave Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though East Central scored an imposing 35 points on Friday, Laurel still came out on top. Laurel took down East Central 49-35. The score was all tied up 28-28 at the break, but Laurel was the (much) better team in the second half.
Meanwhile, Vancleave's five-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They snuck past Stone with a 27-23 victory.
Vancleave can attribute much of their success to Derik Forehand, who rushed for 169 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Hunter Parker was another key contributor, rushing for 57 yards and a touchdown.
The victory makes it two in a row for Laurel and bumps their season record up to 3-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.5 points per game. As for Vancleave, their win on Friday bumped their record up to 2-5.
