The New Hyde Park Memorial Gladiators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 46-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Great Neck North. New Hyde Park Memorial lost against Great Neck North in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 83-61 score last time.
Great Neck North's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liam Sofi, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sofi has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brian Asnadi, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
New Hyde Park Memorial's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-2. As for Great Neck North, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-4.
New Hyde Park Memorial will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Great Neck North at 5:00 p.m. on January 30, 2024. Great Neck North will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Port Washington at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
