The Somerset Academy Panthers waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 55-40 win over Chaminade-Madonna. Given Somerset Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Chaminade-Madonna is ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Somerset Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Johnathan Point du jour, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Anderson, who scored nine points.
Somerset Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Chaminade-Madonna, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
Somerset Academy will challenge American Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Chaminade-Madonna, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Doral Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
