The Pettisville Blackbirds will face off against the Edon Bombers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Edon will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Pettisville extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday. The Blackbirds blew past Stryker 24-3. The Blackbirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by nine runs or more this season.
Macy Hoylman made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Pettisville got a massive performance out of Naomi Richer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave Richer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Bennett, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Pettisville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edon). They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over North Central on Tuesday. With that victory, the Bombers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Makayla Anspaugh was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Anspaugh was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Smith, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season. Kaylynn Bartlett was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Pettisville's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Edon, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8.
Edon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pettisville has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Edon, though, as they've been averaging 9.7 hits. Given Pettisville's sizable advantage in that area, the Bombers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Pettisville beat Edon 13-8 when the teams last played last Monday. Do the Blackbirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bombers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
