Coastal Christian is 0-10 against Cape Fear Academy since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Coastal Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 65-35 victory over Arendell Parrott Academy. With Coastal Christian ahead 32-11 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Aidan Davies continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Coastal Christian's points. Another player making a difference was George Robertson, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Cape Fear Academy didn't have too much trouble with John Paul II Catholic at home on Friday as they won 60-46. Given Cape Fear Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while John Paul II Catholic is ranked 422nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cape Fear Academy can attribute much of their success to Alexzander Wolf, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds, and Isaiah Gibson, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Wolf continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Domas Undzenas was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Coastal Christian's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-11. As for Cape Fear Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's contest: Coastal Christian have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.3 threes per game. It's a different story for Cape Fear Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 3.1 threes per game. Given Coastal Christian's sizeable advantage in that area, Cape Fear Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
