Newport found their leader in underclassman Tay Kinney, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Kinney's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jabari Covington, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Washington County's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Newport, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
