Layton Christian Academy (Layton, Utah) didn't let up as Saturday's game came to a close, scoring eight in the fourth quarter to seal a 28-6 victory over
American Leadership Academy (Spanish Fork, Utah).
After taking the lead on a kick return touchdown by
Jack Chandler in the first quarter, the Eagles led 14-0 at the half.
Layton Christian Academy expanded its lead to 20 points entering the fourth quarter. LCA scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by
Ayan Burton.
American Leadership Academy's lone touchdown came on a 12-yard run by
Garrett Averett in the fourth quarter.
The Layton school had given up an average of 16.8 points prior to the contest. American Leadership Academy's six points were well below their season average of 19.6 per game.
The Eagles avenged last year's 27-18 loss to American Leadership Academy with the victory.
In a 2A - North game next week American Leadership Academy (3-3) takes on North Summit, and Layton Christian Academy (5-1) will go up against South Summit also in a 2A - North game.
