It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but the Northside Christian Academy Crusaders ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past Thomas Sumter Academy with a 67-63 win. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for 47 points.
Northside Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Natalie Walke out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaleigh Howell, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Northside Christian Academy pushed their record up to 11-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Thomas Sumter Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northside Christian Academy will take on Orangeburg Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Orangeburg Prep is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Thomas Sumter Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Palmetto Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Palmetto Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Tuesday.
