2A Western recap Nov. 7, 2012
Bayfield extended the longest winning streak in 2A Western this week by beating Trinidad, 21-12. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Wolverines.
Basalt's dynamic duo of Matt Williams and Andrade Josh proved tough for Florence to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Williams threw for 73 yards and Josh had 34 yards receiving. Jonny Medrano helped Basalt's passing attack out by catching two balls for 33 yards.
TJ Pazell was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 102 yards on 21 carries as Bayfield fell to the Huskies. Teammate Matthew Knickerbocker added to the ground attack by rushing for 57 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Tyler Scott and Tanner Zimmerman Grand Valley has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Scott leads the league in passing with 1145 yards, while Zimmerman has rushed for 1486 yards this season. Basalt's Josh leads the league in receiving yards with 439 on 25 catches.
