Morehead is 2-8 against McMichael since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Panthers will host the Phoenix at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Morehead turned things around against Reidsville on Tuesday. They never let the Rams get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Saillie Aheron made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Taylor Hopper was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with six RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Brooklynn Wray was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Morehead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .889. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
McMichael came out on top against South Stokes on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Phoenix put the hurt on the Sauras with a sharp 7-1 victory. The Phoenix haven't had any issues with the Sauras recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Lindsay Redmon was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Redmon was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Harris, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kora Ingle, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Morehead's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for McMichael, their win bumped their record up to 17-3.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Morehead has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .501. However, it's not like McMichael struggles in that department as they've averaged .517. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
