The Goliad Tigers will head out to face off against the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Goliad has seven straight victories, Nixon-Smiley has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Goliad's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Luling with a sharp 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kayden Caka was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Barrett Garcia, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Goliad kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.
Poth hit Nixon-Smiley with a five-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs lost 10-0 to the Pirates.
Goliad pushed their record up to 16-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Nixon-Smiley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.
Nixon-Smiley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Goliad has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. It's a different story for Nixon-Smiley, though, as they've only averaged .316. Will they be able to contain Goliad's hitters?
Everything went Goliad's way against Nixon-Smiley in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Goliad made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
