Baseball Recap: Covington Has No Trouble Against Fountain Central

Covington barely beat Fountain Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans blew past the Mustangs 15-5 on Thursday. Considering the Trojans have won five games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Covington got a massive performance out of Davyn Green, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Green has posted over his last 12 matches. Cian Moore also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Covington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.

Covington has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Fountain Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Covington will face off against West Vigo at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last five games the Vikings have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Fountain Central, they will square off against Lebanon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
