Baseball Recap: Pebble Hills Extends Winning Streak to Five

Pebble Hills barely beat Franklin the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans blew past the Cougars 11-2 on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on five straight.

Damir Ortiz and Adriel Rodriguez dominated on the mound. Ortiz pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Rodriguez tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Jaden Gutierrez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Jonathan Martinez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Pebble Hills hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin struck out eight times.

Pebble Hills pushed their record up to 15-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-16-1.

Coincidentally, Pebble Hills and Franklin will both be playing Coronado the next time they take the field. The Cougars will head out to face the Thunderbirds at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Spartans will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
