Given Horizon's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 139th in Florida, while Metropolitan is ranked 284th in New York), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Horizon to victory were Sienna Astorino and Molly Smith. Astorino scored 23 points along with five steals, while Smith scored 21 points along with six steals. Astorino is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Emma Andrulouis was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Horizon's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Metropolitan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.
Horizon won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Perkiomen Valley at 10:00 a.m. on December 29th. Perkiomen Valley is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 65 points per game. As for Metropolitan, they will head out on the road to face off against Van Buren at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
