Middlesex is 1-9 against King William since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Chargers will look to defend their home field against the Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Middlesex beats King William with 18 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Chargers' pitchers stepped up to hand Charles City an 18-0 shutout on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.

Nathan Rutkowski and Thomas Foster made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Rutkowski struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Foster struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Rutkowski has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Rutkowski got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Foster got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Foster has become a key player for Middlesex: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Middlesex got a massive performance out of Bryson Bulgin, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Bulgin is becoming a predictor of the Chargers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Luke McMurtrie, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Middlesex always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
King William came out on top against Mathews on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Cavaliers blew past the Blue Devils 13-6. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Middlesex's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for King William, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
