The Whitesboro Bearcats will venture away from home to take on the Ponder Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Whitesboro is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
Whitesboro is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 26-7 margin over Callisburg on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won nine contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Avery Howerton made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Whitesboro got a massive performance out of Bradi Gallaway, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Gallaway has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tylar Olsen, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Whitesboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Ponder unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against Paradise, falling 13-7. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Lions, who until this game were averaging 3.85 runs allowed.
Skyler Medders stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored a run while going 4-for-5. Skylar Kysiak was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Whitesboro pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ponder, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Whitesboro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .396. However, it's not like Ponder struggles in that department as they've averaged .410. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Whitesboro's way against Ponder in their previous matchup back in March, as Whitesboro made off with a 12-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
