There's no place like home for The Bandys Trojans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past Newton-Conover with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 34-20. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Bandys' ten-point performance the match before.
Bandys got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ian Moore out in front who rushed for 187 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Swett, who rushed for 20 yards and two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Newton-Conover lost, one person who can't be blamed is Logan Adair. Despite the final result, he threw for 265 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Ty Miller, who picked up 104 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Newton-Conover's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Leading the way was Jordan Lineberger and his three sacks.
Bandys' win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Newton-Conover, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-6.
Bandys will head out on the road to face off against West Caldwell at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Caldwell comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Newton-Conover, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bunker Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bunker Hill is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
