Hackberry had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. Everything went their way against the South Cameron Tarpons as they made off with a 14-3 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-2 last Tuesday.

Madden Spicer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Hackberry is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-6 otherwise. Spicer was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Devin Murphy, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Hackberry: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kaston Moore, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Hackberry kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 12.4.

Hackberry pushed their record up to 7-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for South Cameron, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Coming up, Hackberry will be playing at home against DeQuincy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for South Cameron, they will square off against Pleasant Hill at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
