Troy is on a six-game streak of home losses, Guilderland an 18-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Troy Flying Horses will take on the Guilderland Flying Dutchmen at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Tuesday, Troy came up short against Colonie Central and fell 61-51. While losing is never fun, Troy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while Colonie Central is ranked third).
Despite the defeat, Troy saw an underclassman step up: Stetson Merritt scored 24 points. That was a full 47.1% of Troy's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Legend Merritt, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Guilderland ended up a good deal behind Schenectady on Tuesday and lost 67-52.
Troy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Guilderland, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-17.
Things could have been worse for Troy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-42 loss to Guilderland in their previous matchup back in January.
