Red Lake suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 82-45 defeat at the hands of Nevis. It was the first time this season that Red Lake let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Red Lake got a solid performance out of Gerald Kingbird jr, who scored 18 points along with two steals and two blocks. Kingbird jr is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dave Dudley Jr, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fond du Lac Ojibwe O took a serious blow against Mountain Iron-Buhl on Tuesday, falling 91-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Fond du Lac Ojibwe O has suffered against Mountain Iron-Buhl since November 30, 2018.
Red Lake's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3. As for Fond du Lac Ojibwe O, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Red Lake against Fond du Lac Ojibwe O when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 93-48 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Red Lake since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
