The Fruita Monument Wildcats waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 35-22 victory over Montrose. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Fruita Monument has scored all year.
Fruita Monument's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cambelle Brammer led the charge by scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Olivia Campbell, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Montrose lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Taygan Rocco, who scored seven points.
Fruita Monument is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Montrose, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Durango the next time they take the court. Montrose will head out to face Durango at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while Fruita Monument will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
