If the Tampa Bay Tech Titans were riding high off their 66-43 takedown of the Blake Yellow Jackets last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Tampa Bay Tech was dealt a 67-22 loss at the hands of the Cougars on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 66 points in the game before, Tampa Bay Tech couldn't push the score so high this time.
Despite the defeat, Tampa Bay Tech had strong showings from Kalese Salter, who scored 13 points, and Breanna Hartley, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Tampa Bay Tech struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Durant racked up 18 assists.
Durant's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mikaiah Hallback led the charge by scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Hallback hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. Icyss Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with four steals.
Tampa Bay Tech has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Durant, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-10.
Tampa Bay Tech and the Sharks will face off at 8:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Kayaunna Dean and Azjannie Culberth. As for Durant, they will take on the Terriers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillsborough knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully the Cougars like a good challenge.
