Inter-Academic recap Sept. 26, 2012
Germantown Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to first in Inter-Academic. Earlier in the week, the Patriots triumphed over Peddie 21-7.
Germantown Academy moved up to 187 from 308 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Luke Harris's team was able to make the jump by beating the Falcons 21-7.
Adam Strouss and Cody Russell gave Episcopal Academy a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Strouss threw for 132 yards and three touchdowns, while Russell ran for 102 yards. Teammate Ian Strain added to the ground attack by rushing for 91 yards.
Stephen Fitzgerald provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Haverford School topped Kennett. He completed five passes for 134 yards and also ran for 46 yards. Fitzgerald's favorite target this week was Chris Morgan, who caught three passes for 68 yards.
The Churchmen's Strouss and Quinn Hager have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Strouss has thrown for 443 yards this season, while Hager, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 11 catches for 259 yards. Matt Galambos from the Fords leads the league in rushing with 206 yards.
Episcopal Academy extended the longest winning streak in Inter-Academic this week by beating Hill School, 42-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
