Football Recap: Marion Skates Past Luling with Ease

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Marion and Luling have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Bulldogs blew past the Eagles 49-0. The game marked the Bulldogs' most dominant win of the season.

Marion was led to victory by Kade Pape and Tanner Otis. Pape threw for 154 yards and three TDs, while Otis rushed for 107 yards and one score. Pape is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last five games he's played.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Marion was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Marion didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Eli Parker and Hudson Robles. Marion received some extra help from Hayden Robbins, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Marion's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.3 points on average over those games. As for Luling, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
