The victory didn't come easy: Buchanan scored at least 18 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22.
Meanwhile, Santa Ynez suffered their biggest defeat since October 10, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to Arroyo Grande.
While Santa Ynez had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-20, 25-21.
San Luis Obispo will have to keep a close watch on Haley Spry and Lila Cassidy, a pair of players who had a big impact on Santa Ynez's prior game. Spry had 15 digs and two aces, while Cassidy had 12 digs and three aces. Pearl Malloy also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
San Luis Obispo's win bumped their record up to 22-3. As for Santa Ynez, their loss dropped their record down to 16-9.
San Luis Obispo took their victory against Santa Ynez in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
