Maconaquah made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Oak Hill, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Braves fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 10-8 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Braves have suffered against the Golden Eagles since April 13, 2017.
Shaela Brazzel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kasey Murry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Logansport owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They came out on top against Lafayette Jefferson by a score of 5-0.
Gracie Risley made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrienne Scott, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Lucy Gordon also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Logansport's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 7.7 runs thus far. As for Maconaquah, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Maconaquah hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. However, it's not like Logansport struggles in that department as they've averaged .424. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Maconaquah came up short against Logansport in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Braves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
