Basketball Recap: Little Elm Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

Little Elm entered their tilt with Lake Ridge on Friday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They were the clear victors by an 85-60 margin over the Eagles. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lobos' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Eagles are ranked 94th).

Little Elm's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kensington Candler led the charge by going 7-for-11 on his way to 21 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. What's more, Candler also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ian Berry, who shot 44% from the field to rack up 19 points.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Onie Lewis, who went 5-for-9 en route to 16 points. Johnathan Rodriguez was another key player, shooting 50% from the field on his way to 15 points.

Little Elm's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Lake Ridge, they moved to 9-3 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Little Elm wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 74-58 victory against Brennan on the 6th. As for Lake Ridge, they have also already played their next game, a 70-61 win against Mansfield Summit on the 6th.
