The Lovington Wildcats have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to Clovis on the road  by a decisive  53-37 margin on Saturday. Lovington has not had much luck with Clovis recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
 Lovington's  loss shouldn't obscure the performances of  Malaiya Castro, who  scored 11 points along with three  steals, and  Ashelynn Borunda who  scored nine points. Castro hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
 Clovis got their  victory on the backs of several key players, but it was  Kailyn Jefferson out in front who  scored 15 points along with six  steals. Jefferson has been hot recently, having posted two or more  steals the last four times she's  played.  Zarai Lewis was another key contributor,  scoring 14 points along with seven  rebounds and three  steals.
 Lovington has  been struggling recently, as they've  lost three of their last four contests,  which put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season. As for Clovis, their victory was  their fourth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 15-3.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lovington will  take on Carlsbad at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another  in New Mexico (Carlsbad is ranked 31st, while Lovington is ranked 37th). As for Clovis, they will head out on the road to  take on  Goddard at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
