The Serra Catholic Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Neshannock Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Serra Catholic sitting on four straight victories and Neshannock on seven.
If Serra Catholic beats Neshannock with ten runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Eagles put the hurt on Our Lady of the Sacred Heart with a sharp 10-1 win on Thursday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by nine runs or more this season.

Owen Dumbroski made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jake Holmes was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Tyler Skaggs, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Serra Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Neshannock beat Hickory 6-3 on Friday.
Denny Joseph looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Neshannock let Jackson Biondi and Anthony Eakin run wild. Biondi went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Eakin went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Hunter Wilson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Neshannock pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Serra Catholic, their record now sits at 17-3.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Serra Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .393. However, it's not like Neshannock struggles in that department as they've averaged .417. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Serra Catholic took their victory against Neshannock in their previous meeting back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 8-2 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
