The Garfield G-Men's's five-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Brookfield and snuck past 30-27. That's another feather in the cap for Garfield, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Garfield was led to victory by Mandy Cardinal and Zoey May. Cardinal scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks, while May scored 11 points along with three steals. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Garfield's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9. As for Brookfield, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Garfield has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome LaBrae at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. LaBrae presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Garfield in Ohio (LaBrae is ranked 228th, while Garfield is ranked 700th). As for Brookfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Champion at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Champion is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
