The Troy Trojans lost against the Sidney Yellowjackets back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Troy took a 40-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sidney. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Troy in their matchups with Sidney: they've now lost nine in a row.
Troy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Riley King, who scored 11 points along with three steals, and Carmen Brooks who scored eight points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points King has scored all season.
Troy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Troy bumped their record down to 4-10 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.8 points per game. As for Sidney, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Troy will face off against Tippecanoe at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Tippecanoe presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Troy in Ohio (Tippecanoe is ranked 231st, while Troy is ranked 552nd). As for Sidney, they will head out on the road to take on Stebbins at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.
