Concord Academy is 8-2 against Gaston Day since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Concord Academy Eagles will get right back to it and host the Gaston Day Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th. Concord Academy will be looking to keep their 13-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Even though SouthLake Christian Academy scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, Concord Academy still came out on top. Concord Academy strolled past SouthLake Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 72-55. Concord Academy pushed the score to 57-35 by the end of the third, a deficit SouthLake Christian Academy cut but never quite recovered from.
Meanwhile, even though Gaston Christian scored an imposing 61 points on Thursday, Gaston Day still came out on top. Gaston Day walked away with a 71-61 victory over Gaston Christian. The win made it back-to-back wins for Gaston Day.
Gaston Day's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kurt Hunter led the charge by scoring 18 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Deshawn Coulter, who scored 17 points.
Concord Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 18-14 record this season. As for Gaston Day, their victory bumped their record up to 18-11.
Concord Academy beat Gaston Day 65-55 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Does Concord Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gaston Day turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
