Softball Game Preview: Banneker Bulldogs vs. School Without Walls Penguins

Banneker is a perfect 3-0 against School Without Walls since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Penguins at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Banneker comes in on three and School Without Walls on five.

Banneker is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Bell 22-3. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 15 runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask School Without Walls). They put the hurt on Roosevelt with a sharp 29-8 victory on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Penguins with their most commanding win of the season.

Harper Barlow was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Pfaffenroth, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: School Without Walls kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 26 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Banneker pushed their record up to 6-2-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for School Without Walls, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.

Banneker skirted past School Without Walls 12-10 in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Penguins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
