Baseball Recap: Lakeland Preparatory Has No Trouble Against Haywood

Lakeland Preparatory won against Douglass on Tuesday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Everything went the Lions' way against the Haywood Tomcats as they made off with a 16-6 victory. Considering the Lions have won ten matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Bryce Thomas looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lakeland Preparatory got a massive performance out of Noah Lindsey, who went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Lindsey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Peeler Easton, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Lakeland Preparatory kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive games.

Lakeland Preparatory's record now sits at 16-2. As for Haywood, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland Preparatory will face off against Peabody at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Haywood, they will challenge Ripley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tomcats are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
