Baseball Recap: Lake Region Drops Season-High Score on Poland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Region). They put the hurt on the Poland Knights with a sharp 19-6 win on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Titus Benton and Brayden Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Benton pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Wilson struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Benton a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At bat, Benton went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Wilson got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Shane Plummer was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dylan Blair, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Lake Region always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Lake Region and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Poland, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
