Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Rahway

Rahway entered their tilt with Linden on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 17-2 victory. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jaylynn Soto made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Rahway got a massive performance out of Danielle Maher, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with eight RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those eight RBI gave Maher a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amanda Lebers, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.

Rahway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Rahway's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Linden, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4-1 record this season.

Rahway will take on Plainfield at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Linden, they will challenge Tech at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
