Everything went their way against The Academy of the Holy Cross as St. Mary's Ryken made off with a 86-64 win. The victory was just what St. Mary's Ryken needed coming off of a 81-35 loss in their prior game.
Leading St. Mary's Ryken to victory were Sydney Thompson and Zahria Higginbotham. Thompson shot 5-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds, while Higginbotham scored 35 points along with five steals. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Higginbotham has scored at least 25% of St. Mary's Ryken's points. Another player making a difference was Jaela Fair, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
St. Mary's Ryken's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.
St. Mary's Ryken will head out on the road to face off against Crofton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Crofton is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Calverton at 5:00 p.m.
