Faith Baptist School has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Concord Christian Academy Minutemen at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Faith Baptist School knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Concord Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
Even though Faith Baptist School has not done well against Greenwood Mennonite recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Faith Baptist School came out on top against Greenwood Mennonite by a score of 61-49. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, as Faith Baptist School did.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Faith Baptist School to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eli Miller, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Miller pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Israel Cousins, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Concord Christian Academy entered their tilt with Fairwinds Christian with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Concord Christian Academy pulled ahead with a 46-45 photo finish over Fairwinds Christian.
Concord Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Carlin Hollis - Homeschool, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hollis - Homeschool has scored at least a third of Concord Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Keavon Bailey - Homeschool, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Faith Baptist School's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Concord Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Fans should be in for an exciting game on Friday as the pair are among the highest scoring teams in the league right now. Faith Baptist School hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59.8 points per game. However, it's not like Concord Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 55.8 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Faith Baptist School couldn't quite finish off Concord Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 and fell 59-57. Can Faith Baptist School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
