Rochester has gone a perfect 7-0 against Culver Community recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Zebras will take on the Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. Rochester is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Rochester came up short against North Miami and fell 9-5. The Zebras have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Aubrey Wilson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Gabby Medina also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Culver Community hadn't done well against Tri-Township recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Cavaliers were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Tigers. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Savannah Schlemmer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Schlemmer was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aiden Molebash was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Abigayle Zehner, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Culver Community was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tri-Township only posted a batting average of .217.
Culver Community's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Rochester, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rochester has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Culver Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Rochester's way against Culver Community in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Rochester made off with a 19-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Zebras since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
