Ashlyn Delfosse and Samantha Melville made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Delfosse pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Melville tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Delfosse has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Delfosse went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Melville went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Delfosse also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Madyson Counard and Alanah Kaye did most of the damage at the plate: Counard went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Kaye went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Kaye has launched this season. Audrey Plzack was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Southern Door always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Brillion hadn't done well against Chilton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Lions came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers, sneaking past 8-7. The game was the first time the Lions have beaten the Tigers on their field since May 21, 2021.
Brillion's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Southern Door, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
