The North Decatur Chargers won the last time they faced the South Decatur Cougars, and things went their way on Thursday too. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, North Decatur made off with a 37-36 win over South Decatur. Given North Decatur's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while South Decatur is ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Decatur to victory, but perhaps none more so than Clare Kinker, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Kunz, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Molly Eden, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Eden is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Kiley Best was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Decatur will challenge Morristown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Morristown will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for South Decatur, they will head out on the road to face off against Crothersville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crothersville comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
