The team relied heavily on Keara Pogue, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Harper Scott, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
The Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Forge Christian made easy work of Jefferson Academy on Tuesday and carried off an 18-2 win.
Devyn Haines made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Rio Beck was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maxine Rossi, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
The Academy now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Forge Christian, their record is now 16-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. The Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Forge Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
The Academy might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Forge Christian in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
